Over the next three days or so (depending on my speed) I will be uploading my photos from the 73rd Members meeting. In my defence I took nearly 6000 photos (oops).
All I can really say about the event is its possibly the best Sunday I've had in years. Amazing racing, amazing machinery (and i mean AMAZING!!), and amazing access. I might have touched an F1 GTR and a Sauber C11 (lightly, just to say i touched it). Brilliant racing, everyone is 100% on it, theres no one there to just tootle around. did i mention it was brilliant and fantastic? it was pretty good in summary.
and to top it all off, I followed a Ferrari 550 down some lovely twisties on the way out.
To start the ball rolling, heres 32 of my finest Mclaren F1 GTR photos. Ill link to the previous post every time I update, to try and keep the thread in 1 piece.
Full resolution should be available on my Flickr. I had to downsize these to get them to upload. Kinja!! *shakes fist*

This one is my favorite! I'm gonna put it as a wallpaper!

Wow, the No.2 car that won the 1996 BPR season - still looks amazing! Did you take any more of it?
![]() 03/23/2015 at 09:48 |

Sadly I dont have any more. It didnt make it out for the Demo run (or if it did, it was in stealth mode). of the 700ish I took of the GTRs, this is the only once of car 2.

Fantastic photos - thank you!
Your content deserves front page coverage!

Why thank you :) I think once i've gone through all the difference races, I will do a final post of my favourites from the day, see how that goes :)
only just finished group C, and going through in timetable order, so a ways off yet.

Did you see the 2 F1's spinning in practice during the first lap?
Great pictures anyway bud!

This calls for a what's your favorite F1 livery question. Give me a minute to ponder.

*sigh*
So many pictures worthy of being placed as MY wallpaper, but alas, even when full size they do not fit my computers aspect ratio, and it looks all grainy.

McLaren, powered by BMW? HERESY!!!

Great pics! But to me personally, the Porsche 956/962 is the ultimate sex.

I saw this in Gulf livery...and needed a tissue and some private time.

This is the first time that front end looked good to me. I still don't like it though.

I've never seen that yellow/blue Warsteiner Longtail. It's beautiful!!!

This is my new favorite color scheme.

I don't think that's heresy, seeing as the F1 had a BMW V12 in it.
Besides, the current McLaren engine is derived from a Nissan engine, so...

Beautiful stuff sir! Thanks for sharing!
I am a bit surprised by the differences between the Long tail and the standard. The rear end treatment was obvious but most of the front end profile was changed as well. Fascinating.

if you follow the link to Flickr it should be possible to download the original file size, which is about 5600x3600 if that helps :)

I was only there on Sunday, so didnt see them. But they were really pressing on, so i'm not surprised they span, and I saw the Gifs that made it to Jalopnik of it too.

It was amazing how low to the ground the longtail was compared to the 'normal' short tail. I had never seen on in the flesh before, they always looked abit blocky in pictures, but oh my word are they pretty in person. and the noise! the NOISE! :D
![]() 03/24/2015 at 03:40 |

The P1 definately looks better in the flesh. Its really grown on me though, I love how the whole bodywork just flows everwhere. Its so lovely

Harrods for me. The Fina Longtail was a thing f beauty, but I love the simplicity of the Harrods car.

oh wow ok, I asummed they would just be standard dimension for 1080p, which winds up looking like crap because my ASUS transformer has the weirdest aspect ratio, but anyway these 2 are the ones I plan on using:
Thanks for the sick new wallpaper (s)!

As much as I hate to give the clichéd answer Gulf is nice.

impeccable taste there sir. The harrods one is my work wallpaper, and I've used a sauber group c as my home one.

are you local to goodwood?

Thanks for sharing these! I just followed your flickr stream; you do a really nice job with panning shots. Do you shoot bursts while you pan? Prefocus on the road, or using autofocus?
![]() 03/24/2015 at 12:17 |
|
:pops boner:
![]() 03/24/2015 at 12:50 |

Ah thanks, you're very kind.
i shoot in bursts, so normally first and last are scrap but the middle shots work out Ok. The 7d mark ii helps alot, as it does 8fps, so makes it easier to run through.
The focus on the 7 and with decent glass means it's not too much of a problem with focus. I'll focus on the tracK or just in front of the car, then follow it through the corner with the spot focus on the car to get it to work.

Nice. I've only done a little panning a while ago at Cars & Coffee, and I don't think I tried burst mode. I played around with pre focusing or letting it autofocus. Someday maybe I'll get to a track to get some racing action. I'm not too far away from Road Atlanta. Maybe someday I'll make it to Goodwood! It seems to be the perfect place to be; such a variety of cars and events, and you get to see everything in action. It's so cool.
You've seen some fantastic vehicles! I love your rally shots, and your whole collection in general. Very nice work!
Here's what I've got on flickr so far. Mostly it's from Cars & Coffee and an annual show that takes place at the South Carolina BMW Factory: https://www.flickr.com/photos/coester…

Panning is definitely just a case of practise makes perfect. I know some people prefer using a monopod, and for really long stuff (nurburgring 24h up in the grandstands) it made sense, but i shot everything at goodwood freehand. Makes your arm ache holding the 100-400, but just makes it much easier to swing the big girl around.
Thanks very much :) i try to get out to a range of stuff. April is fairly hectic for me, with MSVR at snetterton next weekend, BTCC at brands, WEC at Silverstone, British Drift Championship at Lydden, and Britcar 24h at Silverstone all booked.
Just had a browse of your flickr. that BMW is stunning :) Have to say the Cars and Coffee movement in America is one I am very jealous of. don't know why its never caught on in the UK.
Goodwood certainly takes some beating for variety and the day ran like clockwork, so there was never more than about 10 minutes between track action or grid walk or some such.

Thank you so much for the amazing images! I've been enjoying them and sharing this post to many friends of mine that enjoy awesome photos and cars.

I saw bits of the race entry before christmas, and was set on going from the onwards. All I can say is, if you can get there next year, do :D you wont regret it. Im currently writing a proper post about the event itself, which should pop up in the next hour or so (maybe) if you're interested.

have you got what James May describes as Penis root fizzle? :D

Harrods has to win for me. Something about yellow and green just looks right..

Great spot. I honestly dont know. Its not specific to the road car is it? because the F1 GTR for the road isnt the same as the F1 GTR short tail for the track, or atleast its not as far as I know?

I was going for Major Payne, but the fizz is strong with the P1

All of the 1995 GTRs began life with those NACA ducts on the front bodywork providing cool air to the front brakes. In the middle of the year when the F1 GTRs arrived to race at Le Mans several of them had been updated to change the front nose piece and route air for the brakes directly through the nose, eliminating the NACA ducts. GTR 05R and 07R had not taken those updates and today 07R (pictured here) is the only GTR that still retains the NACA ducts. It does however wear the updated nose piece so it has a bit of a hybrid look now.
Here is an example of the original GTR nose piece paired with the NACA ducts on GTR 01R during its early shakedown run at Silverstone. Later this GTR would be re-liveried in the Black/Grey Ueno Clinic livery and go on to with the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Here's a lineup of 5 of the 1995 GTRs from early in the season, all featuring the ducts and early nose piece configuration and then 07R on track at Le Mans in 1995 wearing its original livery and bodywork configuration.
